Art Scheele, Owner
Art was born and raised on a dairy, beef and hog farm in northwest Illinois. He was a District and State FFA Farmer in 1969 and 1970. He served in the Illinois National Guard from 1972-1978. Then Art managed beef cow-calf operation and farrow to finish hog operation from 1973-1978. He became the sole operator of a grain farm 1978-1983 and began selling farm seeds for a regional seed company in 1977-1983 part time, full time from 1983-1991. He then co-owned and operated a forage and grass seed company servicing southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois from 1988 - 1995 under the name of Stateline Seeds. He became the sole owner in 1995 and now runs under the name of Gristmill Enterprises, Inc continuing to focus on grass, forages and forage supplies. He started American Organic Seed & Grain 2003, expanding to a full line certified organic farm seed and forage company.  Art is also the co-owner of Northwoods Organic, LLC, producer of forage seeds and grains.
